Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Colossians 3:16
Singing just soothes the soul. Songs invite your mind to rest in the Lord and focus on his goodness. I want to share my top 5 songs that enable me to maintain focus during the month of April especially while in the solitude of quarantine.

1. I Plead the Blood
As a Christian, I believe the Blood of Jesus heals our physical bodies as well as our souls. Sick? Plead the Blood. Worried? Plead the Blood. Angry? Plead the Blood. Most of all, unsaved? Plead the Blood. When thinking about the current pandemic of COVID-19, this song became an anthem for me in prayer for health and safety of my family concerning soul and body. The Blood truly holds all we need.
2. Living By Faith
I absolutely love hymns. No doubt this results from my church singing from the Red Back Hymnal as we open the worship service. While in the choir or in the congregation, many times I sing lyrics without processing what I am saying to the Lord. Because of this unprecedented time, I began to view this hymn in a different perspective. As a result, this beautiful hymn came alive to me this month and I truly believe the lyrics ring with truth more than ever.
3. Waymaker
The war cry of our nation in hospital parking lots, social media posts, and radios remains Waymaker. When you hear the lyrics, you know why the song gained such popularity. What an awesome reminder of the characteristics of our God!
4. I Wanna Know
My heart’s cry truly just resonated with this song. I plan to emerge from quarantine with a more personal experience for myself in Christ. What about you, friend? The person holding us back stares us in the mirror every day. Let’s know about experiences for ourselves and move forward in victory!
5. Thanks
When walking around our house taking care of things, I find myself singing the chorus of this song. I learned it at youth camp years ago, but lyrics regarding thankfulness never age. Lift your heart up and just praise God for all of the blessings he freely gives!
I hope you enjoyed my top 5 songs for April 2020! List some of your favorite songs in the comments below. I love hearing new songs, especially ones with positive uplifting lyrics with praise to our God!
Until next time,
